- How do I register?
For questions, email firstname.lastname@example.org or call (909) 869-4706. Please note that only runners and walkers with a properly issued “bib” race number are allowed on the course. Please watch your children at all times.
- What is the registration/entry fee and what is included in the fee?
Early registration is $20 for students and $35 for adults. Registration on the day of the event is an additional $5. All early registrants will receive a T-shirt and logo item. Awards will be given to the male and female winners in each age category. Groups of 5 or more (within a single registration) will receive an automatic discount of $2.00 per person. The discount will reflect on the final payment screen.
- How long is the course?
Matt’s Run is a 5K run/walk. The course is 5 kilometers or 3.1 miles. What time does the race start? If I’m late, can I still run? The race begins at 8 a.m., but participants should line up at the start at 7:45 a.m. Late runners may be permitted at the discretion of event organizers.
- Can I wear a costume this year?
Yes, runners and walkers are encouraged to come dressed as a superhero or community superhero to show their spirit. However, please refrain from elaborate costumes that impede your ability to run or walk and any accessories that resemble weapons.
- Where can I park?
Parking is available in the parking structure near the start of the race. Signs will direct runners and volunteers to the parking structure. Visit the directions page

- Are parking permits required?
Matt’s Run volunteers and participants do not need to display a parking permit. Cal Poly Pomona volunteers and participants should display their parking permit. Be sure to park in the parking structure. Visit the parking page

- Do I need to be an experienced runner to run this course?
Runners and walkers of all ages and experience levels are welcome to participate. The course is mostly flat on paved roads and dirt fields.
- Can I walk this course?
Yes, you definitely can walk the course. In fact, about a third of the participants choose to walk the 5k.
- Is there a time limit on the course?
While there is not an official time limit on the course, most participants finish within an hour.
- Will water be provided during the run/walk?
Yes, water stations are provided along the course. In addition, water and snacks will be available at the finish line.
- In case of an emergency, will there be medical assistance at the race site?
Yes, EMTs will be on site.
- After the race, how can I view the results?
Race results will be posted on the Standings and Results page of the website.
- How will my time be recorded?
Matt’s Run works with Pacific Coast Race Timing to provide computerized results. We will record your time with your runner’s bib number and post the results on the Matt’s Run website.
- Are there any awards or prize money?
There will be awards for the top runners as well as an award for the most spirited group. Visit the Awards page for details. Matt’s Run does not give prize money.
- Are strollers or wheelchairs allowed?
Yes, strollers and wheelchairs are allowed. However, in an effort to keep all participants safe, it is essential that strollers and wheelchairs line up in the back of the race to allow the competitive runners to take off first. A waiver will need to be completed for any child.
- Are bikes, roller blades, skates, skateboards or scooters allowed on the course?
No. For the safety of all participants, bikes, roller blades, skates, skateboards, scooters and wheelies are not permitted at the event.
- Are pets allowed?
No. Pets are not allowed, with the exception of guide dogs. For their safety and the safety of others, we encourage you not to bring your pet to campus.
- Where can I put my personal belongings?
There will not be any lockers or secure areas for your personal belongings. For your security, we DO NOT recommend you bring anything of value
- Will the race be canceled if it rains?
Matt’s Run will continue rain or shine.
- Can my family and friends come and watch me participate?
Absolutely! Everyone is welcome. Spectators should stay clear of the course and off the roads to avoid interfering with the participants.
- Where can I get updates about the race?
The Matt’s Run news section is one of the best places to read updates and announcements about the event. In addition, you can follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Registered participants and volunteers should also expect to receive emails about the event.
